Longtime Morgan Page makes has just released the cheekily titled
'Cease And Desist', which the one-sheet describes as the first
white-label house music album ever! The album features bootleg
versions of popular tracks from artists including David Bowie,
Esthero, Sam Phillips, and The Kills, plus the track that kicked
off Morgan's interest in bootlegging, his remix of Wax Poetic feat.
Norah Jones.
For those who don't know the story, the basic
thrust of it is that Wax Poetic and Jones liked Morgan's version
so much, they got in touch and gave it release support, thereby
creating a major underground stir for themselves and Mr Page.
Encouraged by this unauthorised mix success, he's gone about creating
a whole new bunch of high calibre illegal boots.
Of the new material on the CD, The Coldplay and Kills remixes
are the standout faves for most listeners. However this reviewer
tips the nod to his breaky rework of Bowie's
"New Killer Star". Always an underrated pop record, page
wraps a building groove around carefully placed snippets of the
euphoric chorus vocal for a truly memorable tune!
If you just can't wait to check out these underground gems, hit
his website...

As for the man causing the stir, well right now Morgan is in Belize
for a month. Maybe the lawyers are onto him already...

This is Wookie doing house and he's done a very
good job here. If you like vocals throughout, head straight for
the Wookie original mix, in my opinion the vocals are abit over
powering in this one so I headed straight to the dub, where the
vocals are toned down somewhat, the keys and and strings flow throughout
this deep house workout and are very Ben Watt in style, if your
into anything that the Buzzin Fly camp have to offer, you will
sure be into this. |

The original "Lets be Young" on Unrestricted
Access was very good and this package of remixes by Julien Jabre
and The Trackheadz follows suite. We start off with the Julien
Jabre remix, alot of the original sounds are present in this
remix, the beats have been beefed up to give it a more tech edge
and this just rolls and rolls Dj Rasoul style.
On the flip is the Trackheadz remix, this has a more soulful
sound to it, using the strings and trumpet sounds of the original
to great effect, you can tell Nick Holder has played his part
in this one. Altogether a great remix package from Nrk, if you
liked the original there is defiantly something in here for you,
there's even a stingapella to mess with! |
