About the Laptop , I can recommend u 2 models:

1. ACER Aspire 2020

http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/as2020.htm#03

2. ASUS W1000NA

htm

That kind of laptops are based on the Intel Centrino mobile
technology which consumes less electricity than any other processor,
and this is why its batteries last longer than any other
laptops.(Centrino 1,5Gh = P4 3,2 Gh).

For greatest performance I can recommend the following configurations
(Asus and Acer) :

Processor: Clock speed - 2.0 Gh

Cache: 2MB L2

RAM: 2 GB

Hard Drive: 80 GB

For me ACER Aspire 2020 is better because of it's videocard and can
also have up to 2GB of RAM ,in comparison to the ASUS.

A friend of mine recently bought an ACER Aspire 2020 for his home
studio. And is very satisfied with it now. I also saw it and was very
fascinated too. I think this is the right choise for a man who works
with software foe PC.

About PC:

Two months ago I made the following configuration:

CPU: Intel P4 550 3,4GH / FSB 800 / 1MB Cashe
Motherboard: ASUS P5AD2-Premium i925X
RAM: 1GB GEIL DDR2 533 / 2x 512
HDD: 2x 120GB SATA Seagate 7500 / 8 Mb cashe - RAID0
DVD-RW NEC 3500A
VGA: ASUS Extreme N6600GT PCI-E
PSU: Fortron 460W
CPU cooler: Zalman CNPS7700-Cu

For more info search the components in www.google.com

This configuration is working very stable with all the software -
Cubase SX,Nuendo,Logic Audio, Ableton Live and the whole galaxy of
VST plug-ins and VST Instruments.
The only slow thing in this PC is the HDD. Even in RAID massive , it
slows the processes again no matter how fast the other parts are. In
my opinion the HDD better be SCSI and the RAM to be minimum 2GB.

The prodcessors above the 550 model can be overclocked without any
problems but with a suitable mainboards. With better cooling P4 550
3,4 Ghz can run great at 4Ghz and FSB at 1066Mhz. Another plus of that
mainboards with socket 775 is that they support the new 64 bit
processors of Intel. So there's no need to worry about the future :-) .

I wish happiness and good luck to all of you in the new 2005.
